Transfers of money by expatriates and migrant workers to their home countries play a huge role in many countries. These remittances provide income support for family members back home and, in some cases, provide funding for families to start their home businesses.

Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), particularly those involved in trades, seek transparent, cost-effective, and faster means to make cross-border payments to their overseas business partners and suppliers.

While some countries have registered a decline in remittances in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, remittances in most countries are proving to be resilient, defying expectations.

The increasing demand for quality remittances and cross-border payments services has accelerated innovations in this industry and spurred the establishment of fintech companies providing novel solutions. Traditional remittance providers, too, are undergoing digital transformation to improve their services.

In this context, the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) is pleased to launch our latest Remittance Sub-Committee. The committee shall inaugurate with a webinar on 18 March, 3:00 pm, by introducing the members through the panel session where you'll get to appreciate different insights from key stakeholders and subject matter experts within the remittance space.

Programme Outline:
1. Speech by Mr Chia Hock Lai, President of SFA
2. Speech by Mr Barakath Ali, Chairman of Remittance Association of Singapore (RAS)
3. Introduction of Remittance Sub-Committee
4. Panel Discussion
5. Question & Answer
